Why a drawing is required for custom parts

A one-line chat cannot carry thread, tolerance, or alloy. The file is how Jamnagar quotes without guessing.

Standard fasteners can be quoted from a size, standard, and quantity — for example stainless steel (SS) 304 hex bolt M8 × 40, Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN) 933, 20,000 pieces.

Turned brass inserts, forged fittings, and buyer-specific Computer Numerical Control (CNC) jobs cannot. Pitch, chamfer, plating, and lead-free versus free-cutting brass change both tool-up and price.

Send Portable Document Format (PDF), AutoCAD Drawing (DWG), Drawing Exchange Format (DXF), or Standard for the Exchange of Product model data (STEP). A clear photo of a dimensioned print is acceptable for a first look. We still prefer a Computer-Aided Design (CAD) file before production.

We work brass, aluminium, stainless steel, copper, mild steel, and other hardware. Name the metal on the Request for Quote (RFQ) even when the drawing is attached.
